Finding the time in a busy teacher’s life to blog is difficult.
Coming up with ideas shouldn’t be. Actually, I’ve always been one of those people who suffer from too many ideas. So many that making up my mind results in overwhelm and not blogging at all. Are you like me? 😉
For a few months, I’ve been struggling with the challenge of putting together an editorial calendar for my blog (that’s the freelancer in me) because I know myself well enough as a writer to know that if I have a topic to write toward on a specific day, you’re going to get something out of me…so I finally sat down and did what I intended.
I created a blogging editorial calendar (of sorts) for February. I like the idea of a monthly theme, as it streamlines ideas and helps focus thought. Since February is the month for Valentine’s Day, the monthly theme is Things We Love. All of the posts are geared toward sharing what we love in all areas of our lives, not just the classroom.
If you struggle with ideas or focus, I’m posting a copy of my editorial calendar here and in the resources section. I would absolutely love to have you join me. My intention is to have a blog post daily this month, and blogging is more fun with friends!

A few notes on the calendar items:
Sunday posts feature foods we love. Even better, photos and recipes of foods we love. Don’t tease us with just the picture, let us try the recipe for ourselves!
Monday posts are blog-centric. Bloggers love feedback. When you blog about a favorite post or must-read piece, zip off an email to that blogger to let them know you’ve featured them. Happy all around!
Tuesday posts are self-centered. Let us get to know you through your favorite things.
Wednesday posts are school-related. Students, projects, moments…share those wonderful things from your classroom that keep you coming back.
Thursday posts feature technology. In the classroom, in life…tell us how apps help you get through the every day.
Friday posts are the highlight of your week. What was the single-best moment over the past 7 days? School, home, life…what really moved you and made you sing?
Saturday, for all of us DIYers, are crafty/hobby posts. What did you just make that you love? What did you pin to Pinterest that you are dying to make?
You can blog along with me each day, just on certain topics, or, heck, even twist the topics to blog what you want. It’s up to you. It doesn’t matter how you blog…it just matters that you blog!
