Ahhh, summer…finally! It’s been raining something awful here in Ohio this past week, keeping us all indoors and in the doldrums. We need sunshine! Fortunately, today delivered…at least for the time being. There are still lots of clouds in the sky and lots of hours in the day to get through. Soak it up while you can!
All that time indoors gave me plenty of opportunity to work on my planner/journaling projects without feeling guilty for being indoors on a June day. Just like last week, I’ve only got one Monday Made It to share with the 4th Grade Frolics linky crowd, but I see it as the start to a bigger project I plan to keep moving with over the summer and into the school year.
This is the first half-week of my new fitness/health planner. For years and years, I have struggled with getting healthy and adding more fitness in my life. What doesn’t work for me is planning everything ahead of time. To some extent, planning ahead works: healthy meals, what times of the day to exercise, workout or walk, keeping track of water. But when new wrenches are thrown into my week that I didn’t anticipate, I tend to abandon my plans.
So, my thought with this journal was…I know I’m going to work out, I know I’m going to eat healthy, I know I’m going to drink water…so why don’t I keep track of it rather than plan every second of it? I love the artsy component to journaling so much, it was worth a try.
I’d say it works pretty well. The only thing I set up in advance were the boxes for tracking the 21 Day Fix and water portion. All the other pieces came in later as life happened. The flags at the bottom are meant to track my daily FitBit steps, which is on hold at the moment because my poor FitBit died and a replacement is on the way. The big squares are for tracking my daily workouts. The pawprints represent every time Miss O. and I stroll around the block, and the other bits and pieces are just random happenings of my week that had an impact on keeping active.
I enjoyed the process of putting together the planner so much that I went ahead and created a very bare-bones layout for this week. Here’s the entire week:
Two closeup photos next: one of the left side and one of the right.
I went a little crazy with the washi tape on the right…lol. I also added a big, 10-item box to each page. What am I planning to track there? Not sure yet. Maybe my top 10 favorite workouts, favorite vegetables, 10 day step count…it’s gonna be something fun for sure. And the flags at the bottom are all ready for my FitBit step counts when it gets here.
How do you track your workouts? How do you keep yourself accountable? I’m listening…I love suggestions. In the meantime, keep on creating!
