Happy last-day-of-break, all. Hope you wrangled some rest and relaxation out of your break this year, no matter how long (or short) it was. I’m spending this last, lazy Sunday connecting with the ladies at TeachingTrio for their Sunday Scoop linky…
Now that I have gotten the hard work of today (lesson planning…) out of the way, I get to play (for a little while, anyway).
3 Things I *Have* To Do:
For once, these aren’t things I dread.
Exercise: I’ve been keeping up with my yoga over break, and really hate missing a day. I feel so much better when I stretch and center myself. It’s getting frigid outside again (it was almost 50F when we came out this morning!) so I’ll probably do a little yoga and a FitStar workout instead of walking.
Make Lunches: A friend of mine and I became Advocare reps last year after having great success on the 24 Day Challenge. She’s continued her success, losing 35 pounds (Go, Teri!), while I’ve maintained my inch loss (27) but stalled in the weight department. Tomorrow we’re both starting a new challenge, and as such, I have to start prepping my lunches. It is so easy to grab junk at lunch, especially when conferences or meetings or…whatever other craziness…steals my lunch time. I’ll be honest: I love vegetables but I hate salad. So I devised a couple of salads that I will actually like eating and shopped for the ingredients yesterday. I’ll make the Monday-Weds. salads today and the Thurs-Fri salads on Weds since I only have three glass bowls…lol. Maybe I’ll post those recipes here if I can pull something together. Hint: none of them have lettuce. I despise lettuce!
Catch up on my blogging notebook: I got a beautiful new blogging notebook from Plum Papers at Etsy, as a gift to myself in starting a blog I have thought about for years. Sadly, I’m behind in using it to document the work I’ve already done. I’m looking forward to a little quiet time this afternoon to update my blogging notebook, pull together a couple of new ideas for posts in the upcoming week and even add a post or two here.
2 Things I Hope To Do
Set up my morning/office space: I’ve had a spare bedroom as my writing space since we moved into this house, but over the last year, my focus has moved from writing for magazines and blogs in general to writing more for educational blogs and publishers. In the meantime, my writing space has just been filled with junk and not been serving me. I completely cleaned it out over break, all the way down to having a clean (GASP!!) desk. The space also serves as my space in the mornings when I like to journal and get myself together for the upcoming day, so I want to make it perfect to start off tomorrow. Lord knows I need all the incentive and happiness I can find in going back to the classroom after such a good, restorative break.
Do a little writing: Same idea. I’ve slack on my writing, and I’ve got a couple of pieces due to editors for January deadlines. One is almost done, but one I haven’t even thought about starting yet. I want to at least scribble out a working outline to guide me, because I know time will not be my own once I’m back in the grind.
1 Think I’m Happy To Do
Read my magazines: I picked up two new magazines yesterday–one on clean eating recipes (my new wild passion) and one on basic photography. I got my son (the sports journalist) a new DSLR camera for his journalistic work, and have been using it myself. News flash: I don’t have the slightest idea what I’m doing. So maybe after I do my work on the writing room and writing, I can settle in and get an overview of the camera and what I should be doing with it. Something tells me it’s not quite the disc camera my mom got me for Christmas, circa 1983…lol.
How about you? Hope you’re having a terrific break. Enjoy the rest of today!
